The summer holidays are almost here! Whether you’re jetting off abroad or staying close to home, we have some tips to get you from A to B without the stress. And if that wasn’t reason enough to get excited, Mall of North is bringing you even bigger and better Black Friday deals on 29 November!

  1. Start prepping now

Double-check all your important documents and make sure everything is up to date. This applies to your ID, passport and driver’s license but also medical aid cards, travel insurance and vaccination certificates if you’re leaving our shores. If you plan on taking a road trip this December now is a good time to make sure your vehicle services are up to date and to book one as soon as possible if not.

  1. Pack like a pro

Check your airline’s luggage restrictions and take another look at your bags to make sure they aren’t too big or heavy. This applies to domestic flight too so weigh your bags before heading out the door. If you struggle to fit all those must-have outfits in your case, consider watching this handy YouTube video for some inspiration on folding and packing your clothes and accessories like a seasoned jet setter. 1. Keep your home safe while you’re away

Let a trusted friend or neighbour know when you’ll be away so they can keep an eye on things. Aside from the usual safety tips like making sure your alarm is in working order and that all gates, doors and windows are locked – remember to put a hold on any regular deliveries to your house and get a friend to collect your mail and newspapers. Rather save your social media updates and holiday pics for when you’re safely back home.

  1. Keep your little ones entertained

Long family trips can turn into a nightmare if you take too much luggage. Not only will you have difficulties squeezing it all into your car it will take forever to find anything. Take a few of your little one’s favourite toys and colouring books for entertainment. If you’re going to be on the road for a long time, plan to stop at landmarks along the way. This means you get to rest and your kids get to have all kinds of new and exciting experiences along the way.

  1. Live in the moment!

Most importantly, live in the moment, try new things and enjoy some well-deserved downtime because that’s what holidays are all about!
